I know anime fans like to take pics of their rooms/collections/stuff, but I wonder if there’s anyone out there who’s gone as far as some Star Trek fans, who create home theater rooms that look like the Enterprise bridge. Are there any recreations of the Genshiken club room out there? Or the SOS-Dan room? The Japanese themselves are into real life recreations, like the famous Satsuki and Mei’s House from Totoro. Back at America’s Centennial Exhibition in 1876, visitors could check out a Japanese Dwelling containing the products of that culture–today, with the Japanese government getting into promoting anime abroad, an exhibition like that would probably be a Totoro house. But just as foreign fans have embraced cosplay, we need to embrace the creation of settings as well as costumes and paraphernalia. Traditional Japanese gardens and buildings are recreated in North America, maybe anime and manga structures should be next. As for me, I’d like to watch anime inside a life sized Gundam model (or at least while hanging out with a human sized Gundam model).

Looks like nobody’s in–maybe we can search for Kyon’s hidden files on the computer!

Nice to see some activity here, and good luck with your blogging endeavors! I don’t know of any intentional recreations of the Genshiken club room, but many otaku dwellings develop a resemblance to it ^_^
