I just saw on AnimeonDVD that Air has been licensed by ADV, so that just leaves Kanon among the major KyoAni works to be brought over to the U.S. I haven’t watched Air yet, but now I really want to (despite of a negative reaction to it that I saw recently!) Being only 12 episodes is an advantage in getting through shows in my huge backlog of stuff to watch! It also helps the wallet!
I wonder how ADV will handle and market it (it doesn’t seem like a typical show for them.). The press release emphasizes that Air is really popular in Japan, although that can’t really be a good indicator of how it’ll do commercially in the U.S. But with Haruhi coming out with a lot of buzz, it could get exposure in the SOS Dan’s wake. I don’t know about the “Air mania sweeping North America” though (!) The focus last year was on all the reasons it wasn’t being licensed. But I can’t really judge its prospects here until I’ve seen it. It did get a vote on my KyoAni poll!

Meh, I don’t know about you, but why not “try before you buy”? Before Triad pulls the torrents off their tracker. Just a suggestion, because if you like it a lot you’ll buy it anyway.
Huzzah! Air is definitely a series that needs a real US release; the TV anime is one of the best examples of its genre out there. I haven’t seen the movie yet, but people seem less enthusiastic about that version.
@Owen: Its already waiting to be watched! I just wanted to tout a benefit of supporting the commercial release. :3
@Matt: You’ve given me further encouragement to check it out!
