I went to Anime Next today. I did things like buy stuff, preregister for Connecticon (saving myself ten bucks!), and meet Hinano and (briefly) jp. I also took some pictures around the con. I fail at taking cosplay pictures, but there are a few here. More info can be read in the captions. (I’ll post later on what I bought, but it included an issue of Comp Hs with a Konata pencil board that has pleased me well).

This con takes place in a concrete box with different sections separated by black curtains. Not to complain, but I guess I’m spoiled by Anime Boston and Connecticon’s comparatively palatial convention centers, lol.

A typical con line. There was a line for the Dealers Room too, another thing I’ve been spoiled about at AB and CC. I didn’t wait around for this, and when I came back some hours later, there was no line!

I could not resist taking this one, although I cut off the end of that long gun!

No room for cosplayers to congregate in the convention center itself, but they have claimed the lawn outside the Holiday Inn. Walking away from where the cosplayers gathered, I passed by a (most likely non convention related) woman talking into her cellphone and I distinctly heard her use the word “freaks.” Ah, when the otaku and the outside world mingle…

Part of an interesting cosplay group.

On the way out.

This gentleman was particularly insistent that if I posted his picture I remember that his character was from Giant Robo and was named Taisou.

That interesting cosplay group is from Tsubasa Chronicles :P
Hinano> I knew it was CLAMP-related, with the Mokonas there and all, but I didn’t recognize all the characters, so I didn’t want to put a single name down. But, of course, Tsubasa uses all their characters anyway :)
It’s nice to see Giant Robo getting a little love from the cosplayers! Good find with the Comp H’s– domestic sources seem to be pretty hit-or-miss with this magazine.
