So these episodes begin the Massacre Chapter, but there’s no massacre yet. Rika hopes there won’t be one at all because everyone is remembering their past lives now. Hanyuu knows its inevitable, but at the end of ep. 7, she keeps that to herself. She probably does not want to burst Rika’s bubble of hope, now that she’s all excited because she thinks she can change her fate. Also, if Hanyuu is too gloomy, Rika will eat something spicy and cause her much distress. These are the first episodes where we see Hanyuu, after only hearing her voice in earlier episodes.
It was interesting to see Rika’s desperation when she was getting K1 to talk about his dream. After all the hopelessness of the last four episodes, you can really feel Rika’s amazement and growing hope. We are also learning more about why Satoko was injecting herself with something, although its still very mysterious. And Takano is a nurse. Later, she makes Hanyuu mad because of her lack of understanding. So, ep. 7 ends with Rika very confident, and Hanyuu resigned to another bad end. Having spoiled myself for some of what’s coming up, I can see how Rika made a mistake in trusting a certain someone, but we’ll see how it all plays out.
