Hmmm… I don’t recall this image being in the OP before…

So, at least one station decided to show this episode. I decided to watch it carefully for any sign of the blood and guts and axes that might have prompted this episode’s being dropped elsewhere…

There are many peaceful scenes in this episode. Most of it is talking and there are many things revealed about the Hinamizawa disease that makes people go crazy (perhaps Kotonoha from School Days came from there?)

I have seen comments on various blogs lately wondering about the seemingly easy availability of axes in Japanese homes. I analyzed the scenes in Rika’s house carefully, but there were no axes visible. Perhaps she does not have an axe in her home? In that case, her home must be considered a safer model of Japanese domestic life than many real homes. It is inhabited by two lolis on their own, however, without supervision. And, of course, the Sonozaki household has a torture chamber filled with various devices, and Rena has been sighted in possession of a weapon. But in this episode, at least, the only violence that occurs takes place on a dark road at night and involves a sniper, not a bladed weapon.

Perhaps there are sinister conspiracies, as indicated by Rika. Could these explain the cancellation of this episode on other channels? If so, we must respect the risk taken by those who have shown it. In the meantime, since this channel did not feature NICE BOAT or NICE FOOD, we must settle for NICE BEVERAGE.
