Kotonoha has spilled some ink on herself

What follows are some interesting facts that many viewers of School Days ep. 12 may not have been aware of. The compassionate blogger at Daijoubu will now explain them so that there will be no misconceptions about this seemingly violent episode.

Having been spattered with ink by an irate Sekai, Makoto decides to play dead, lest she stain his school uniform any more. Sekai, however, believes that Makoto has had an allergic reaction to the ink, and thinking him dead, flees in horror.

Kotonoha returns and sees Makoto on the floor, covered with ink. She is horrified at the thought of Makoto’s ruined uniform, which he will expect her to try to wash for him.

Kotonoha calls Sekai out to the school rooftop and has her look in the bag. It contains Makoto’s ink stained uniform. Filled with remorse for her act of vandalism, Sekai reacts with choking sobs. But Kotonoha is not done. To take revenge, she uses her cleaver to splatter Sekai with ink. Now that Sekai’s favorite jacket has been ruined as well, she wonders what she will tell her mother (who bought it for her) and in horror slumps down senseless.

Kotonoha, though, has become delusional again. She believes that the mop she used to clean up all the ink is actually her boyfriend and she goes off on a yacht with it. Poor Kotonoha! I hope she recovers her senses soon.

Anyway, it seems odd that this episode would be delayed due simply to the wastage of ink. Perhaps the powers-that-be feared an outbreak of ink spattering from viewers of the episode? Is is hard to tell.

EDIT: It has come to my attention that it is not a mop in the last scene, but Makoto’s severed head. A perusal of the pertinent police reports reveals that Kotonoha was a closet otaku. She had been downloading Claymore and had recently seen ep. 8. In response, TV executives hoped to cancel the series, but the last episode had already aired…
