Just a few minutes ago, on CSI:NY, I learned that starfish are carnivorous! I wonder if Fuuko was aware of this? Also, they have two stomachs! OMFG!!! Do you think dangos have two stomachs as well? Oh, now they are looking at starfish under water. They have feasted on two drowned bodies! This indicates a side of Fuuko I was unaware of. I find this quite disturbing…. Perhaps, while Fuuko is in a coma, her starfish will eat her? Please wake up fuuko! I think Nagisa’s dango-fetish might be safer, unless they eat people as well…

It’s a lie. Those aren’t starfishes, they’re starfish-shaped Mushi that infect your brain and make you closer to the Komyaku.

Or, in non-Mushishi terms, the starfish is a lie.
