Daijoubu

I’m going to keep this short and sweet. There were two types of sequels this year, those that were great continuations of their sources, and those that should never have been made and were in fact, soooo bad, they make one question if the original was that good to begin with! I will also add a third category: sequels that should have been made!

Genshiken 2 is obviously in the first category. In fact, it’s even better than the original (if only because the great Ogiue’s in it). And I bet there will be more sequels. Just as long as they are TRUE sequels and not that Kujiun rubbish!

Why is that for sequels like Zero no Tsukaima and especially Shana, progress that has already been made by the end of last season has to be set back to an earlier stage? Just so we can have more of the same stuff! But who cares, because these series both fall into the “Cast shame upon their predecessors” category. Actually, Shana is still an open question, right?

HiguKai falls into the good category. However, they are going to make another sequel next year, and I really can’t guarantee that that won’t fall into the bad category. Please do a good job with it animators! I want my Higurashi memories to be positive!

OK, enough of this sequel stuff. I’m going to have to mention Nanoha next, and I can’t bear to do it! I don’t think I bothered with any other sequels, but I know there were more. Anyway, here are some sequels they should have made:

Kanon 2: Ayu’s Slow, Painful, Tear-Jerking Rehabilitation

Nanoha 4: The Lost Years (a prequel to StrikerS: “look everyone, they are lolis again!”)

Gundam: Final (the last Gundam series that will ever be made)

Moetan Lesson 2: Now you know enough English to read Shakespeare and know there should never be a Romeo X Juliet 2, ie it sucked!
