My only picture from Day 1 of Anime Boston.
What a day! So I left home waaaaaay later than I’d wanted to (due to various circumstances). This was bad, because I knew from Anime Boston 2006 that getting there too late = a looooong wait in line! That’s why I got to Anime Boston 2007 so much earlier and had almost NO wait! Well, guess what … for Anime Boston 2008, I arrived even later than for 2006! After I took a look at the long line and confusion, I realized I just couldn’t face it. But unlike the last two years, when I went for just one day, this year I’ll be around for two days! And there’s plenty to do in Boston, so I thought, “I’ll try later, much later…” lol.
I did manage to walk through the convention center, though, and had no problems wandering the Artist’s Alley without a badge! So I saw Hinano there, but I couldn’t buy her doujinshi yet because I only had money she couldn’t make change for. I’ll buy it tomorrow (and some of her very popular prints, I wonder if there will be any left when I get there, XD). So, after checking into my hotel (which is way out in Cambridge near MIT, haha — cheaper than the convention hotel), I had a fun time time exploring Beacon Hill and taking pictures for a Historic Buildings of Massachusetts blog I’m thinking of doing (to go with my Historic Buildings of Connecticut blog!).
I got back to the con before 7 PM, but the security guards (not con staff but the convention center’s own uniformed people!) were now checking every single person’s badge and not letting anyone not yet registered in because REGISTRATION WAS CLOSED! But waitaminute, registration was supposed to go until 10 PM!!! Well, some guy told me, they had so many people (I guess it didn’t let off a bit!) that they could not even get through all those already in line inside in the next three hours! wtf. Well, now I’ll only hafta pay for one day at least. So Hinano and jp had finished with their table for the day and had changed out of their costumes (and I didn’t get a picture of their cosplay!), so I went to Au Bon Pain with them before they went to the AMV showing. There was a suggestion of my sneaking in again, but with the guards keeping careful watch, I don’t think that would have worked. Anyway, the AMV contest is repeated Saturday and will probably SUCK because they did not choose to show the GREATEST AMV of all their submissions this year, so f**k it anyway. >:(
So, I’m going very early Saturday to get in and maybe this time I’ll get to meet the legendary wildarmsheero!

I was there, too. Unluckily, I didn’t think I would need to pre-reg, so I was in line for 3.5 hrs before giving up and going back to campus.
(We weren’t even half way to the start of the line.)
Woah, Mecha-Zawa! Bad-ass!
The fact that you had a “fun time”, compared to some of the other posts on the subject of the con, makes me think you might have been better off not getting in…
