Just a brief note, I’m working on the site here, so things may look a bit crazy! BTW-this 2.5 is reeeealy strange. Give me advice–is it wise to wait for 2.5 to be out a while and use 2.3.3, or just dive into 2.5? Tell me experts!!!

The only things you should be worried about are your theme and your plugins not working correctly with 2.5. Just check to see if those plugins are 2.5 compatible, and you’ll probably be good to go. So only if your WordPress installation is heavily customized will you possibly face problems.
If you really want to wait, go ahead and wait; 2.5 makes media-uploading and linking MUCH easier, and it actually allows us to manage tags :D
You seem to be using 2.5 already… well are you having problems? I’m surprised K2 still works @_@
Yeah. I’m working on moving to a new domain, but I want to use export/import, but my version of WP was ancient, lol. So I had to upgrade this site first, and it was 2.5 that was there! for upload, so I tried it! Don’t know if every part of K2 will work or not though….
I upgraded my test blog using the K2 theme and it broke the site. Although I’m using an older version of K2 with a plugin that disables the WP siderbar widgets, so K2 may have been improved since then. Once I switched off that plugin it still didn’t work. I suggest you look at the K2 Community forums to find out whether K2 is compatible with WP 2.5.
I’m gonna wait for a while before updating my WP. With so many changes made, there’s bound to be plenty of bugs and security issues. So it might be best to wait for 2.5.1 before updating :P
The one good thing is that there are no table layout changes, so most plugins should still work. I believe most changes were to the admin UI and also tweaks for performance gains.
K2 does a lot of interesting stuff that is not super flexible. While the theme is very slick, it is very prone to breakage with WP updates. It’s probably worth it to wait at least a week or so for the inevitable 2.5.1 release.
I upgraded and everything seems to be ok so far. But I don’t use widgets and plugins. If you only have a few, it’s probably ok. As long as you back up your database beforehand, I don’t see why not to try it out.
Well, this is just me, but I upgraded to 2.5 tonight and pretty much everything worked fine (though Maintenance Mode was a little wonky there for a while). I use the Sandbox theme (not familiar with K2).
If you’re doing a lot of specialized stuff, I may say wait, but if you’re just doing standard, regular WP things, I don’t see why you can’t go ahead and upgrade (just make sure to backup first!).
OK, K2 is working. I just disable the k2 widgets in favor of Wordpress’s own widgets. The new domain is working, but will require much work, but it is coming along and I will reveal it soon. But there is much to post in the interval, including my statement about Owen and the recent blog dorama. This is a post that is certain to shake the anime blogosphere to its foundations!
OK, this is messed up. On my new domain the comments have all transfered over, but they don’t appear with posts but only in the admin area and the Recent Comments in the sidebar, lol!
I agree with Kabitzin - most of the ugrades were in the ‘backstage’ area rather than a major database table reshuffle that we saw in 2.3. TBH I’m not sure what happened to WP 2.4 so yeah, waiting for a 2.5-friendly version of K2 might be worth your while. My blog’s theme is a butchered variant on the default Kubrik one, so my changeover went quite smoothly.
My site seemed to be working fine. The only thing which broke was popularity contest which was easily fixed with a change of code.
It might be too late now, but you did remember to update your database to UTF-8, right? Right?

I upgraded recently… It worked fine… I didn’t actually upgrade until the first stable came out… I have been playing around with the release candidate for a bit for a while. Plug ins mostly worked and my variant of K2 worked fine, although I am thinking of starting code straight from scratch for my next theme.
Very good performance gains and I like using the Fluency Admin interface… All in all pretty cool. New era. New ERA!
