So I kept finding, on blogs and on Twitter, about this Anime called Aria. It seemed popular and even that lolikitsune character seemed into it. Then it comes out in the US and I was too lazy to order it online and I didn’t see it in Best Buy, but finally found it in another store one day. So now I’ve watched the first episode. I feel good that I watched on Thanksgiving, because it seems like an appropriate show for thinking about being thankful for simple things and the miracles of everyday life. I suppose the whole series will be like this, which is good because we all need to watch relaxing shows set in peaceful worlds that we wish we could visit but really don’t exist anywhere but in anime.
I also love Venice, but Neo Venezia seems to resemble the real Venice about as much as Epcot’s does. It does not seem to be as gritty, full of tourists or in a sinking condition as the real Venice either. I also doubt that Neo Venezia has the record of conquest, intrigue and Shotaconism that the real Venice has either. It’s a purified and iyashikeiized Venice. But I haven’t spoiled myself by actually reading (beyond skimming) any of the posts on Aria that I’ve linked to, so I am still unsure about the full extent of Aria fandom. I wonder if Neo Venezia has its own version of the classic Venice for Pleasure? Also, while the animation is merely OK, its acceptable… although one wishes for a Neo Venezia version of Canaletto.

Perhaps a hard edge, maybe a series of murders (like in a series of Venice-based mystery novels), will happen later, but I doubt it, lol. So I’ll expect more relaxation. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

how long did that Aria-shachou take you to draw? lol.
Umm… not too long. 10-15 minutes at most. :)
And just you wait! It’s perfect for Christmas as well!
And that Aria-shachou is awesome. :3
And a happy Thanksgiving to you as well. I have to agree, Aria is definitely one of the better choices one could pick for Thanksgiving viewing, as ironic as that may seem.
And as much as I love the real Venice, I definitely agree that it can’t hold a candle to Neo-Venezia. Apparently in the future they’ve not only solved the problem of the sewage-y canal smell, but apparently technology has also taken care of the whole “overrun by noisy tour groups” thing as well. xD
