I’ve been watching anime since 1995 (not counting old memories of stuff like Voltron and Robotech). I went to my college’s anime club, saw Ninja Scroll, and soon I was into the standard popular stuff of the time like Tenchi, Ranma, and the early Miyazaki movies. While working on my (first) M.A. in the late 90s, at another university anime club, I expanded my range and obsessed over shows like Evangelion, Fushigi Yuugi, Nadesico, Rurouni Kenshin, Escaflowne and Kare Kano, among many others. After the year 2000, I switched to DVD and would regularly check out AnimeonDVD to see what was coming out. I’ve also kept track of the latest stuff in Japan and had phases where I was really into shows like FLCL, Hikaru no Go, Azumanga Daioh and (yes) Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach. Recently, I’ve really liked My-Hime, Honey and Clover, Higurashi, and (yes) I got caught up a little in Haruhiism as well. I went to my first convention (Anime Central) in 1998. These days I usually try to go to just two cons a year (Anime Boston & Connecticon).
I’ve been checking out anime blogs for awhile now and after taking a course that looked at the blogging phenomenon, I decided to try anime blogging myself. Right now, I’m experimenting as I go along, so things will probably be all over the place for a while. I’m not so knowledgeable about making fancy screencaps and stuff, so this blog won’t be as image heavy as a lot of others out there, but I will try to make it interesting.
