So I got this Maka and Soul figure. Though I’m not much of a figure photographer, I took a few shots so you can enjoy the Soru Iita love!!!

The view from behind. Lots of folds in that jacket-cape thing there!

And lastly, I don’t want to neglect the Soul fans:

OK, here’s my obligatory loot pics. First, I got a Higurashi Kai book and two issues of Megami, one at the con, the other at the Sanseido next to Mitsuwa. In general, besides the titillating Konata and Kagami images that have been well-noted elsewhere, there were not that many posters in them I liked, except for the Soul Eater one above. But I did get some exciting figures and plushies, so please read on…

Next up are the two Ragnarok Online plushies, a drops and an arc angeling :

Then, there is a most attractive figure of Kyou-sama. But where’s her lunch bento?

Next is a Haruhi at her desk, kind of like all those Eva ones you see around, except it’s Haruhi:

And lastly, the keychain/cell-phone items! There’s Lucky Star’s Konata and Kagami, Pangya’s Kooh with Papel and Daikin’s Pichonkun (a gift from Hinano, yay).

I arrived in New York around 10:00 AM and went over to the Javits Center for the New York Comic Con. My ticket had not arrived in the mail in time, but with my barcode ready, I got a ticket very quickly. There was a big line to get in, but unlike the lines at Anime Boston, this one actually moved forward at regular intervals and soon got everyone inside! Compared to AB, it was like a dizzying high speed roller coaster, wow! People in line were also happy when Stan Lee walked around the perimeter, to loud cheering and applause. There was a more generalized fanboy constituency at this con, so not all the Narutards and yaoi-girls. There were actually lots of older fans around (and people with babies!?!)

The NYCC is a huge event, much larger than the anime cons I’ve been to. The exhibition hall was huge and a little overwhelming at times, as was the mass of humanity pressed inside the place. Even though there were quite large lanes to walk between the exhibitors, sometimes even these would be difficult to navigate with the crush of people. But there was lots to see there, ranging from displays of figures and collectibles and numerous publishers of comics, manga, fantasy books, and cute mascot characters, to a selection of musical guest T.M. Revolution’s stage costumes. The anime/manga content was not so large, of course, so I only ended up buying one item (a trading figure of Sumomo from Nanatsuiro Drops). But there were still plenty of interesting figures (not for sale!) to take pictures of!

For a while, I walked around with a friend from Connecticut and took pictures of stuff. I was going to meet up with Hinano and JP, but they were still at home eating breakfast when I got there (!) When they arrived (cosplaying characters from Reborn), we walked around some more (Hinano moves very quickly from one place to another, leaving others to follow along in her wake! When I told her about the display that had the Hatsune Miku Nendroid, she took off for it at 90 mph, lol). We went to one panel, Yen Press, where they announced Haruhi and other licenses. Hinano called out the names to all of the licensed titles the minute they flashed an image of the art! She knows her manga, lol.

I explored some more with my CT friend, picking up lots of free stuff and saw someone else I know, but only for about 30 seconds, because he always seems to go right to the video games and stick to that for most of the con! I went to a yakiniku place with JP and Hinano, but on the way back I called and found out that the CT guys were going to skip the concert (unlike me, they’ll be going back to the con tomorrow).. I’d been a little worried about going to the TMR concert myself already, because I’d probably be rushing afterwards to get the train I needed and if I missed it, it was the last one. Also, I’d not get home until like 1:30 AM, so I decided to skip the concert, which is why I still have the energy to write this post tonight! So, all-in-all, it was a good time, and lighter on the wallet than an anime con (for me, at least!). I did get some interesting pictures, so please look below for a few cosplay pics and more figures!

Good Smile Miku Nendroid:

Well he went to a Naruto Ninja-Fest and then was really in to Maids for a while, but that was about it. Now he’s only going to be there a few more months and he’s finally delivering some non-maid stuff! Check out the photos from the Great Robot Exhibition at Tokyo’s National Museum of Nature and Science in Ueno!

So I’m finally getting around to posting some pictures of my NYAF loot. This also includes my Kinokuniya and Asahiya loot! There was a lot of free stuff of course, but I did buy a few things too. And just tonight I have altered the appearance of two walls at home by vastly increasing their moe-quotient! So if you want a partial glimpse into the inner sanctum of DS, here it is!

Some NYAF-related items and the Zeta Gundam collection of artbooks
and issue of Megami that I got at Asahiya.

Tsuruya song CD, big poster for the One Piece movie they showed at NYAF,
and souvenir book from the Tezuka Museum.

My purchase at Kinokuniya was this Haruhi figure. This one’s been around a while and can be seen at other blogs. I liked her, so here she is!

At NYAF, I also picked up these cute Haruhi trading figures!

OK, now for some room transformation! The following two pictures show two walls as they have been for some time now. Quite sparse really. And looking a bit tired, right? Bit of a shounen slant too:

Well, clearly that needed some livening up, lol. Thus, inspired by a big Haruhi poster from NYAF, as well as that issue of Megami, and with additions of some other stuffs I had, the walls underwent moe-ization, and behold:

Moe transformation complete!!!

I have some old figures, one of which is Lina Inverse from Slayers. I got her at a con eight or nine years sago. I’m not sure when she came out, or what company made her either. She has lost some paint here and there, and once had to be glued back together. Anyway, my picture editing abilities are limited, so these pics are not very good. They got much blurrier when I resized them. But if anyone is interested, here are some shots of a figure of a classic 90s anime character ^_^
